Rosneft to sue over media reports of trade with North Korea
MOSCOW, Sep 3 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Rosneft plans to sue South Korean news agency Yonhap Agency for its reports about alleged involvement of the company in oil product supplies to North Korea, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Yonhap reported that North Korea’s imports of oil products from Russia rose by 16% on the year to around U.S. $24.8 million in 2019, and that two Russian companies supplied the products – Rosneft and Gazprom.
“This report does not reflect reality, and it is aimed at elimination of competition on the market. Rosneft has not done any deliveries to North Korea and it is not doing any commercial operations in the country,” Rosneft said.
“Publication of information about Rosneft’s involvement in supplies of oil products to North Korea is a provocation. The company plans to file a suit to court seeking protection of its rights and of business reputation.”
